You may find additional ideas or insights in Karen’s interpretation:
I’ve been on the road a lot lately, and these hawks have seemed to be with me everywhere I go. I’ve always wished that, as I drive by them at 60 mph, I could sit and spend time with them, so I finally did.
~Slow down and pay more attention to your surroundings
The hawks see us buzzing past them on the highways in our hurry scurry lives, when was the last time you saw them? This particular species of hawk is mostly unfazed by human activity so perching on a tall pole along a highway is very common in all parts of the USA. Take their challenge and notice not only how many hawks you pass, but everything else. Take a new route so the background is not routine and invisible. Don’t become impatient and agitated while waiting in lines, use the time to absorb the details of everything around you.
~The best things might be small and unexpected treats. Just try it
Metaphorically you might wish a small lone mammal will wander past, but instead take delight in the variations of a small rodent or bird. Goals are great, but also we must take time to enjoy the unexpected surprises, whether they are personal accomplishments or gifts from loved ones. Look for the beauty in all you encounter even if you have to ‘dig’ for it; size and wrapping are not important.
~Look forward, become visually clear, focus; Watch all – but focus
Keep your eyes on your goals but don’t ignore what is around you. Know where you want to go but if you aren’t paying attention you might get sideswiped and knocked off track. Engage your peripheral vision, as mentioned before, to enjoy the journey or to avoid the obstacles. Keep your inner eyes open to what is being revealed before you.
